Coming back to Earth.

After months in space, watching and exploring the Solar System, the intrepid crew of ‘Nautilus’ have finally made it back to the docking station located one hundred miles above Earth. After having docked two days ago, the crew have taken a welcome break while the technicians of the space station prepare the ship for re-entry.

Having been designed much along the lines of the space shuttles of the second millennium, Nautilus was also used to glide back into the Earth’s atmosphere, where once she had landed; she would be overhauled and sent back up with an entirely new crew. This was her 66th flight and her crew of six couldn’t wait to return home.

The track begins with Nautilus as she is manoeuvred away from the space station and into position for the glide home. Once there her decent begins in earnest (no that’s not a place in space! Lol, sorry). Having been emptied of fuel except for a minute amount left for manoeuvring, she is free to use the Earth’s gravity and the wizardry of computers to bring her home.

When I began this track over a year ago, I had this image in mind, but as time went on, some things changed; I only hope, to the tracks advantage..enjoy listening and let me know if you don’t like the outro.
