Succubus - n. a female demon supposed to descend upon, and have sexual intercourse, with sleeping males.

This tack was produced using similar techniques to 'Danse Macabre'. It runs at 75 bpm and uses a number of plugins within FL8 Studio. Using arpegiators from Sytrus, Toxic 3, Toxic Biohazard and Poizone I have found that slowing the tempo right down, using lower keys and tweaking the presets within each synth I can create a darker, more menacing sound which I'm having great fun experimenting with. Having grown up listening to obscure Depeche Mode and Ultravox b-sides I'm really pleased with the sounds I'm creating because, although I find dance music and up-tempo tracks quite easy to create, my real musical love lies in darker more meaningful tracks that take longer to arrange and give me a much better sense of achievement.  

I've finished the title track to my album. 'Danse Macabre' is my first foray into darker music, I seem to have been doing a lot of dance and upbeat stuff lately and felt the title of the album dictated a more downbeat, atmospheric track. This album is taking a darker path than my previous efforts. I like the way the track has taken shape, it has a distinct beat but the bass rumbles along, almost trying to catch up with the main tempo of the track. It feels jerky and laboured, yet still keeps in time which is quite bizarre. Perhaps it represents it's title rather well....The Dance Of The Dead ! As a fan of Depeche Mode, particularly their 80's and 90's work, this track is in the same vein as some of their instrumental tracks - 'B' sides such as Christmas Island and The Great Outdoors.

I've finally uploaded all my back catalogue and have remixed the main synths on 'French Kiss' to give it more of a punch, added extra vocals and piano and some more automation. The result is quite good ! Let me know what you think.
