2007 In Song
My songs are most certainly my journal – when you peruse through my oeuvre you can get an idea about where I was at a certain moment in my life by reading my lyrics during that era. From 2000 and the political yearnings heard in my song "Apathy" to the first time I really fell in love (2004's "Chemicals Of Love") to 2003's fear of the coming war in Iraq as reflected in "From A View" to getting out of an abusive relationship (2005's "Dark Dog Days") to having my heart broken (2006's "Broken Boy"). Well, 2007 has been a tumultuous year for me (as it has been for many, I know). I have fallen, gotten back up, have loved, cried, learned, been awaken, fell asleep, had glorious highs and desolate lows, have been humbled and shattered over the landscape, have made difficult decisions, have let go of past obsessions and have made it to THIS point in my existence which I pray with all of my heart is closer to the realization of my dream of finally bringing my music to the world. So, instead of sending out one of those annual mass letters to my friends and loved ones, I wanted to share with you all the words to the 32 songs I wrote this year, in chronological order which will surely give you a better glimpse of my 2007. Despite it being one of the most trying periods of my life, I am glad the universe has unfolded in this way because I am stronger and wiser. I pray that I can build upon my newfound hope and spirituality to focus more on my mission in this life, which is to bring healing music to the world.
